Veterinary pathology - Novopath Ltd.

Veterinary pathology cast its magic on me in 1997, when, as a student at Veterinary University Brno, I started to visit regularly Department of Anatomic Pathology and tried to see and learn as much as possible.

I started a combined residency (approved by the European College of Veterinary Pathologists) and PhD study in veterinary anatomic pathology in 2001, just after my graduation. Following my PhD in 2004, I was employed as a senior lecturer in Brno and also launched my private diagnostic service for clinicians in the Czech Republic.

In July 2006 I left for England and started to work as a diagnostic pathologist for a private diagnostic lab CytoPath Ltd in Ledbury, where I provided diagnostic service under the supervision of Dr.Chris Belford. Except for my daily histopathology diagnostic work, I was thoroughly educated in diagnostic cytology. In February 2007, I returned to the Czech Republic as a diagnostician for the Czech veterinarians.

I pursued habilitation at Veterinary University Brno in May 2011 and became an associate professor of anatomic pathology.

I worked as a diagnostic pathologist at Finn Pathologists in the United Kingdom from 2013 to 2016.

I passed successfully FRCPath - Part 1 Examination in Veterinary Pathology - Small Domestic Animals in September 2014 and FRCPath - Part 2 in October 2015 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in January 2016.

returned to the Czech Republic in May 2016, but cooperation with Finn Pathologists did not cease and I continue to work for this lab as a consultant in histopathology via an online digital pathology system.

I was awarded RCVS Specialist status in veterinary pathology in February 2020.

I successfully passed the board exam of the European College of Aquatic Animal Health in 2021 and became Diplomate, ECAAH

In the autumn of 2022, I moved to the USA as a visiting professor of pathology at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University in Indiana. Besides my diagnostic and teaching activities, I was also preparing for the board exam of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, which I sucessfully passed and became Diplomate, ACVP in October 2023.
