Fish diseases

My interest in fish diseases started at 1997, when as a student of Veterinary University (UVPS) in Brno I begun to visit Department of Pathology at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) and learned from ichthyopathologist Dr. Ladislav Groch who was my teacher of fish pathology for more than 5 years.

Since 2000 I was assistant of the Department and since 2001 lecturer and studnet of PhD program of anatomic pathology with emphasis to fish pathology. The theme of PhD thesis was Granulomatous Inflammation in Fish.

During my postgraduate study I visited fish vets in Denmark and Hungary. In 2002 I launched private veterinary practice specialized in fish diseases.

In May 2011 I absolved habilitation at FVM of UVPS Brno and became an associate professor of anatomic pathology. In 2010 I started to study MSc in Fishery and Hydrobiology (Limnology) and in 2012 I was graduated from – Fishery and Hydrobiology at Mendel University in Brno and obtained degree Ing. (ingenius) which is equivalent to MSc.

I moved to England in 2013 and started to work for Finn Pathologists where I also examine both ornamental and farm fish samples.

I returned to the Czech Republic in May 2016, after receiving Fellowship of Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath).

I've been awarded Certificate in Aquatic Veterinary Medicine (CertAqV) by World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association and I successfully passed the board exam of European College of Aquatic Animal Health becoming Dipl. ECAAH in 2021.
